CASE 1

New Plans Result in Reduced Absences, Increased Retention at Rheumatology Associates

The McCone Insurance Group (MIG) was instrumental in finding and implementing benefits to employees at Rheumatology Associates (RA), a company dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases. With five offices in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and a central office at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, this company dedicated to quality healthcare also cares a great deal about making its employee benefits packages attractive and affordable.

According to Administrator Chad Fragle, retention of employees and recruitment of new staff is instrumental to any benefits program, especially one focused on health and wellness.

“Tom spent a great deal of time with me and my staff to learn about the specific objectives we wanted to accomplish,” says Chad. “He was able to construct a comprehensive benefits strategy to aid us in employee retention, as well as helping position us to attract quality individuals to join our team.”

Chad has been with the group for four years and is responsible for the overall business operations for the practice, including benefits selection and administration. He says he has received nothing but top-quality service from Tom and his associates.

One of the most important parts of the new plan is the use of the Consumer Direct Health plan option, where employees are empowered to take control of their health and healthcare spending. In short, health insurance offered at an affordable price gives employees have more money in their pockets while saving the company money as well.

Chad believes MIG made this possible through the work it did in finding a great plan.

“Tom takes a strategic approach to you and your company’s objectives. Otherwise, employees would be stuck with expensive benefit plans that would not help them.”

He added that RA received better service from Tom and his associates than the company could have gotten anywhere else. The fact that MIG is accessible and friendly makes the process even smoother.

“We now have less absenteeism and turnover,” says Chad. “Tom has a hands-on approach throughout all phases of the process. I was the most pleased with the personal attention and prompt follow-up. Inevitably, there are issues that arrive when going through this process, but Tom and his staff were always accessible and able to respond in a timely manner.”

CASE 2

Technology Service Professionals Saves $100,000 With New Benefits Plan

The McCone Insurance Group (MIG) successfully helps provide benefit plans to company employees. One of those companies is Technology Service Professionals, a Dallas-based service provider offering a broad range of services on Intel-based systems.

In 2007, TSP faced an increase from its medical insurance carrier. Chris Skaggs, Human Resources manager, handles the company’s benefits program for its 135 employees. Chris believes TSP’s plans rival some of the large Fortune 500 company plans.

“Tom helped us find superior benefits with affordable prices so we can provide the type of benefits we do without having to ask for large contributions from our employees,” says. “Tom is always looking for ways to help our company realize our vision and number-one goal of employee satisfaction.”

Once Tom presented several top-rated medical insurance carriers that could offer similar plans, Chris says the result was a true win-win. The new plan would save the company money approximately $100,000.

Tom and his colleagues also found three competitive offers for TSP’s Life Insurance supplement. This was in addition to the group life insurance program TSP already offered free of charge to employees.

“MIG counseled us on which offer would be the best, and during enrollment, we actually got lower-than-quoted prices,” says Chris. “Since this plan is 100 percent paid for by the employees, the savings were directly put into the pocket of the participants.”

This is part of the reason why Chris was so pleased with MIG’s services – the combination of better plans, lower costs and customer service was unique to Tom and TSP. In fact, Chris says he was most pleased with the expertise and friendliness of MIG.

“Tom always looks out for his clients; I’m not hesitant to call him about anything, no matter how small it might seem, and ask for help.”

Because of Tom and MIG’s work, TSP has a personalized benefits plan and exactly what the company needs. Skaggs said MIG is different than most insurance companies because it “doesn’t act as a typical insurance company.”

“The McCone Insurance Group is our friend. They look out for us and are generally concerned with our future as a company. I thoroughly enjoy every time Tom comes out to our office. He really ‘gets’ what we do as a company, which, in turn, allows him to put together the best plans for us.”

CASE 3

Better Health Plans Enable ASI Employees to Have More Money in the Bank

Many insurance and benefits providers thrive on renewals to sustain their business. Some, however, aren’t satisfied with this kind of complacency. One of those firms is McCone Insurance Group (MIG).

For more than 14 years, MIG has worked with ASI Business Solutions to ensure the company’s plans are “beneficial” for employees. A Dallas/Fort Worth provider of custom document management solutions, the focus at ASI is on customer service. As a result, the less time employees spend worrying about expensive health plans, the sharper the focus can be on providing what ASI does best: solve problems.

“When ASI decided to change one of our plans several years ago, Tom and his team was were there to assist us by finding plans that are less expensive for employees,” says Scott Wiggins, owner and executive vice president. “Tom spearheaded the new plans and educated us on how they worked. He made sure we understood how the new one differed from the other plan, and how it would fit the needs of the company and employees.”

Prior to the change, an HMO and PPO was offered to employees who got to choose which one they wanted. ASI replaced the HMO with an Health Savings Account (HSA), a plan much more complicated, but in time, is designed to increase personal savings for health expenses while decreasing company benefit expenses.

Scott says not as many employees adopted the HSA plan in the beginning as was expected, but as they continue to learn and comprehend the benefits, participation has increased substantially.

Scott says he has worked with MIG for so long because of their promptness and ongoing willingness to help, as well as fact that the company is small and really works with their clients on a one-to-one basis.

“We have a great relationship with Tom. He has a good staff and they are always very helpful,” says Scott. “I know what to expect from them, and if I have a question, I know they will get back to me promptly. I have stuck with him over the years. They work quickly, are close to their clients and always responsive to our needs.”
